Unlike in Asia and Latin America, Elaeis guineensis also known as oil palm trees are native to West Africa, and remain an important traditional crop with a variety of uses. Archaeological evidence shows that palm fruit and kernels, and their oil already formed an integral part of West African diets 5,000 years ago.
Our palm oil is produced in collaboration with a farming cooperative organised by a Village Chief in Togo.
The farmers are incentivized to produce ethical and clean products adhering to our standards, for which they are compensated above market value. We let the farmers determine the price of the market via open bidding because we believe that this handmade production process is an ancestral art that should be respected and protected.
